Port of Chelan County Tax Increment Financing District
Proposed Malaga TIF
Why Malaga?
There is a significant amount of undeveloped and underdeveloped property in the proposed Malaga TIA boundary. The proposed boundary includes the new Microsoft location and the former Alcoa Plant, as well as other undeveloped industrial property. There are significant infrastructure needs within the area that must be addressed to allow for future development to occur. A TIA provides a substantial new source of funding. While a TIA will not generate sufficient revenue to fund all improvements needed in this area, it could be a critical source of funds to leverage grants, loans, and other public and private investments to complete major elements of the infrastructure needs described above. These investments will spur additional economic development and jobs for the region.
