General Aviation Terminal Building Project
BACKGROUND:
In 2021, the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority began focusing on an overdue need for a new General Aviation Terminal Building. A study showed undertaking a historical renovation of the existing 1960s era Quonset hut building was preferred over building a new facility. The renovation project will convert 6,400 sf of space into a modern, approachable, and efficient general aviation terminal building that will house a passenger waiting area, pilot’s lounge, and Pangborn’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO). When completed, the modernized building will create a first impression for our general aviation community that represents and celebrates our region’s history, scenery, and character.
GROUNDBREAKING EVENT:
The groundbreaking event for the General Aviation Terminal Building, held on August 12th, 2024, was a resounding success! We were honored to have Senator Cantwell join us as a distinguished speaker, highlighting the importance of this project for our community and the broader region. This new terminal will enhance our local aviation infrastructure, support economic growth, and provide a welcoming gateway to our area. The event was a testament to our community's commitment to progress, and we look forward to the terminal's completion and the many benefits it will bring.
