General Aviation Terminal Building Project
General Aviation Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - August 27th, 2025
About the Project:
The Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority undertook the renovation of Pangborn Memorial Airport’s General Aviation Terminal to address the long-standing need for an updated facility. A study determined that a historical renovation of the existing 1960s-era Quonset hut was preferred over constructing a new building.
The 6,400-square-foot terminal has been transformed into a modern, approachable, and efficient space featuring a passenger waiting area, pilot’s lounge, and Pangborn’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO). The completed facility now provides a welcoming first impression for the general aviation community—one that reflects the region’s history, scenic beauty, and character.
From Vision to Reality
The renovation preserves the character of Pangborn’s original 1960s Quonset hut while introducing modern finishes and functionality. The updated 6,400-square-foot terminal now offers a passenger waiting area, pilot’s lounge, and space for Pangborn’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO). Design choices reflect the region’s natural beauty, incorporating warm materials and clean lines to create a welcoming environment for travelers and aviation professionals alike.
Community & Economic Impact
The new General Aviation Terminal enhances Pangborn Memorial Airport’s role as a vital regional asset. By improving the experience for pilots, passengers, and aviation partners, the facility strengthens connectivity across North Central Washington and supports continued economic growth.
Modern infrastructure like this encourages business travel, tourism, and investment in the region, while reflecting the community’s pride in providing quality facilities that match the level of service and professionalism found throughout the airport.
Operations & Use
The General Aviation Terminal serves as the central hub for private, charter, and business aviation activity at Pangborn Memorial Airport. Operated by the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority as the airport’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO), the facility supports a range of services for pilots and passengers, including aircraft parking, fueling, and ground support.
The modernized terminal offers comfortable lounge areas, a passenger waiting area, and upgraded facilities designed to improve the overall travel experience. By operating the FBO directly, the Regional Port ensures responsive service, operational efficiency, and a welcoming gateway for the general aviation community.
